Noise Diaries #15

Current noise. I have so much old stuff to upload im really not going to bother, it wont make a difference. Plus the only person who downloads it has it all now, so theres no point. Maybe one day it will find its way here. Heres some ugly harsh sounds to celebrate this summer heat. Oh yeah, im using a direct player so no one has to worry about being lazy and downloading shit. Isnt that spluffy?

Resuming

Okay. Summer. I wanted to start off with a nice long road trip post, but Guy has my SD card and hes in San Jose, so I wont have those pics for a while (preview belowbelow). But that's okay, because theres a million other things i still have to put up here from RISD. Anyways, so I've been back for about 2-3 weeks now. I've spent my time sitting around, generally doing nothing. I've finally finished my (simple) audio mixer, and am one step closer to making music with Lei. I just need to wait until my amp gets back from the "shop" (a guy named Peter. Or Kevin). I finished my telephone mic. I'll probably make another. I went to Jo-Anne's fabric! Did I spell that right? That store is amazing--you don't have to get a minimum of 1 yard of fabric cut! Like the sale section at that one place in rhode island. Anyways, so i started patching my pants (very necessary).

Ive spent a lot of time with my friends, but really only a few of them. Mostly Jake and Greg and Rachel and John and Zach and some other lovelies. Where are the rest of you? I havent seen you. We should do something. I've also noticed a slow (but steady) increase of views this past week, which i presume has something to do with school ending this past week or so. New Toy Story ride opens. I'm very excited for that. There's not much to do here. I miss risd where i could amble around and always end up somewhere with something to do. Here i just walk around the house and stare at my dogs. Although I must admit, that is fun in its own right.

That's basically been my summer so far. I had that internship planned, but the animation company is waiting on this contract and basically has zero work right now, so that fell through. Which means I'm most likely going to be looking for a job. Whee. We also might be moving. Well we are moving. For sure. We just don't know where yet. But that will be in a few weeks. I haven't done art in a while. I think I'll do some of that to pass the time. Later posts with lots of pretty pictures and pretty projects and harsh sounds.

OPEN ROAD, BABY.

Home

yes, i am still alive. the trip home was fun, and ive spent the past week recovering and going about doing various home-y things. Ive dont my annual get-sick-after-school thing. Ive gone to Disneyland twice. I got a nutburger at Follow Your Heart. All is well. There'll be a nice detailed update soon involved tons of pictures from the drive and all other sorts of shenanigans. That will come later. This, for now, is just a status update.

Noise Diaries #14

Harsh noise from the end of march. This is still probably my favorite collection of harsh noise ive done. Which means you should listen to it. Only 20 minutes, at least give the first side a try. Seriously.

Schools

Out (for summer). After a week of no sleep and my room turning into a destructive mess (see picture), I've finally finished. It was funny, handing in my Logic final and excitedly leaving the building, bursting out of the doors only to find it was a cool 54 degrees outside with a slight drizzle. I don't think I've ever had the first taste of "summer freedom" when it's still cold and wet outside. This east coast shit is weird.

Noise Diaries #13

Gosh I'm so far behind I forgot where I left off. I think this is the proper one in the semi-chronological order I'm trying to follow. From the very end of March. Drone, followed by drone, followed by some really long, droney-drone, then maybe a dash of noise. As usual, it should be listened to very loud. I know, track 4 is too long. Even for me. What the fuck was I thinking. I don't know why i bother with these anymore anyways, Lei's internet isn't working.

♬ Noise Diaries Leaves and Dirt Leaves and Dirt.rar

(its big, so prepare yourself. 55mb RAR file. But i think filedropper is pretty fast. It took like 30 seconds to upload. But maybe that's because it's 7:30 in the morning and who the hell is using the internet at 7:30 in the morning? I know I'm not. Nevermind. It seems the internet is broken at this time of the day, and filedropper isnt working. ZShare it is.)

BABABABA

It's 7:16 am right now. I haven't slept. I suppose I could have, but there was a major noise show going on, and it was the last one of the year. Sure, I had a final project due today, but oh well, there was plenty of time for that after biking back from the show in the freezing cold. Jesus. And yes, I did finish my project, with plenty of time to spare, but my timing was horrible, as I was halfway through watching that one movie, The Others. I've never seen it, but always meant to. It's really good. Really good. I thought, at least. I'm really surprised people weren't like "omg this movie omg dylan see it." Anyways, so I had to finish watching that, and before you know it, the sun was up. I guess the point of this was, hey, theres a new noise diary. Above this entry. So you obviously already saw it (and most likely skipped over it). Making this post obsolete. Oh well. The internet was good to me today (yesterday).

Why today is awesome

1. BLT:
(Self explanatory)
2. Package:

Although I have yet to receive my new mouse that ive been waiting for (using the computer has been very difficult), i got this sweet royal package today, chock full of goodies. And although i really should be working right now because I have so much to get done by tomorrow, i'm not. you really cant blame me though, anson is asleep so the lights must remain off, and the sun is already on it's daily decline. alas, here I am.

Also, artwork! Drawing final/crittique today, see below.

Drawing Crittique

Brice Hobbs' final crit for drawing. Basically, a culmination of the work we did in his class over the semester. I brought in mostly in-class gestures and life drawings, because, save for a few, my homework assignments did
not come out well. The last one was our "final"--basically do whatever it is we'd be experimenting with over the summer.

The crit went well. But then again, it's Brice. He gives everyone good crits in the end. He is quite fond of my work, though. Although I didn't hear anything new today. He asked me my major again. Then said some more stuff about Rembrandt's etchings. Oh Brice.

uP1

So the other day i actually had some free time and sat down to write a real blog post! Then i went to upload pictures and realized i left my camera cable in my 3D Studio for the project i was working on. Oy. But, I feel like something needs to be said, so heres a real quick update before i collapse in my bed.

-I have many photos of 3D projects to put up.
-I just finished a pretty badass noise device project. Photos too
-So many noise diaries edited now. So many.
-Holy shit only three weeks left of school!
-In case you guys dont know, I'm driving home this summer with Guy. That's exciting
-I have a paper due friday that ive known about all semester and still havent started. Despite what i keep telling myself.

Okay i think i should stop now because anson is started to do that grunting thing in bed where he gets frustrated because im making too much noise with the clickytyclakcy of my fingers on plastic. or maybe the bright of the screen. OH GOD HES WATCHING ME NOW, WHAT

Noise Diaries #12

My $10 keyboard came in the mail today. I love the 80s. I have a whole bunch of other stuff to upload, but thought id put this one up today because its so different. Since no one really bothers with my noise ones, try this one. This should feed right into the hipster breakfast bowl of music. It's something you will probably actually not cringe at. Don't get used to this. Life update coming soon.

Noise Diaries #11

Another noise diary, from february 22. This was a pretty unique one, something i still want to pursue more (but haven't gotten around to). Drums make life more fun. Take a trip to the Southern Hemisphere.

Also, I've gone with a new method for my noise diaries. Since none of them are single songs anymore and theyre all multi-track .rar files, which everyone is too lazy to download and be bothered with, I'm going to upload the whole set onto Muxtape where you can listen to it, then use zshare if you want to download it for future use. I dont know. Do whatever. I think only like 2 people listen to them anyways. FWAPMP.
